Brick and stone foundation in winter

Put the foundation of stone in winter only after you thoroughly study all the nuances, since such a procedure in winter has its own specifics. The cement gel is obtained when the cement mortar is hardened when the cement grains are interacted with water. The hardening process depends on the temperature, that is, if the temperature is high, then the cement hards quickly and, accordingly, if the temperature is low, then the hardening process is very slow, and if the temperature is below 0 degrees, then hardening is generally stopped.

Lime mortar can be hardened due to crystallization, that is, with evaporation of excess moisture and carbonization of particles of lime. Therefore, in order for cement to harden, lime should be in a humid environment. In general, all the strength of lime is entirely dependent on the temperature of the air and climate.

If the temperature is below 0 degrees on the street, then the freezing process of the solution is inevitable. At the same time, freezing, the solution inside accumulates ice, which, in turn, does not enter into a chemical connection with the solution and other astringent substances.

If the hardening process has not yet begun before freezing, then after freezing it will not begin to be 100%. And if the hardening process began before freezing, and then the solution froze, then hardening stops exactly until the moment when the air temperature does not rise, and the ice inside the solution does not melt. Also, do not forget that when the ice freezes, it tears the structure of concrete from the inside and affects its strength. And if the freezing process occurs very quickly, then the fresh masonry of the solution in the seams quickly loses its flexibility and plasticity, because of this, the seams are uncleaned.
